Welcome to the Maine Township Office of Emergency Management - Home of the Most Prepared Community In the Northwest suburbs.

Flooding Hits Maine Township Again!

Like most areas around metro Chicago, Maine Twp was inundated with an unprecedented 7.01 inches of rain on July 24th. This was the largest rainfall amount known in this area for at least the last 75 years.

We di have flooding in some areas but not nearly as much as previous years. The Township OEM was out early Saturday morning keeping an eye on the situation. There was a break around 3:30 - 4am and then started again around 6am. OEM staff and volunteers were immediately in the area and established field operations and sandbagging at strategic locations.

On Tuesday, the OEM was back in the area doing damage assessments for Cook County, the State of Illinois and the Federal government in hopes of securing a Presidential Disaster Declaration.

Our agency was founded on the principle that disasters happen to communities and that we cannot completely stop them. We exist though to reduce the likelihood of disaster striking us and to be as prepared as we possibly can to quickly respond and recover when that disaster strikes.

The Maine Township OEM offers many programs for community involvement. Throughout our website, we hope to give you a look inside of those programs and the valuable work they accomplish for the community and hope that you too will become involved.

Come inside and see what we are all about. We have volunteer programs for nearly everyone over the age of 14 and they cover a variety of activities besides emergency management
